Visitor Identification Guide

Master the subtle art of separating survivors from Visitors with physical tells, dialogue cues, and a full database of guaranteed and randomised characters.

Spoiler & Strategy Warning

This guide discloses visitor identities, quest prerequisites, and scripted appearances up to Night 14. Use it if you are prioritising survival, achievements, or speed-running.

Physical Warning Signs

Perfectly White Teeth

High

Teeth that seem to glow or reflect light unnaturally. Visitors struggle to mimic natural colour variation.

Detection Tip: Check under multiple lighting angles. Combine with other tells before making a lethal decision.

Extreme Nail Condition

Medium

Either immaculate, glossy fingernails or filthy, soil-packed nails. Many guaranteed humans show false positives here.

Detection Tip: Ask about occupation—gravediggers or burned survivors often justify dirty nails legitimately.

Bloodshot or Glowing Eyes

Medium

Red veins, glassy shine, or chronic dryness. Trauma, smoke exposure, and grief can mimic the symptom.

Detection Tip: Cross-check with behaviour and story consistency; widows and cultists often cry, causing harmless redness.

Blurred or Corrupted Photographs

High

Visitor IDs often show digital smear or facial distortion, even when other paperwork looks legitimate.

Detection Tip: Always request photo ID when energy allows. Combine with TV symptom of the day for confirmation.

Low Growling / Inhuman Audio

Very High

Guttural growls or throat clicks almost always indicate a Visitor preparing to strike.

Detection Tip: Immediate elimination is recommended. Very few humans can produce this sound without obvious distress.

Total Absence of Body Hair

Low

Hairless armpits or limbs can be grooming choices or radiation side-effects. Treat as supporting evidence only.

Detection Tip: Confirm with additional symptoms or inconsistent stories before acting.

Shelter Management Approaches

Conservative Screening

Admit only visitors you can clear beyond doubt. Focus on guaranteed humans and high-value allies.

Advantages

  • Minimal risk of lethal Visitors
  • Simplifies nightly management

Disadvantages

  • High chance of failing the Night 4 Intruder check
  • Lose access to secret questlines

Balanced Judgement

Combine physical tells with story consistency and visitor history logs.

Advantages

  • Best chance to reach Day 14 alive
  • Unlocks multiple endings in fewer runs

Disadvantages

  • Requires energy management and note-taking
  • Still vulnerable to RNG false positives

Aggressive Purge

Execute anyone suspicious to avoid internal kills, accepting moral penalties.

Advantages

  • Guarantees Visitor-free shelter
  • Fast path to "Yes, I'm a Murderer"

Disadvantages

  • Locks out peaceful endings
  • Triggers Egghead judgement and vigilante suspicion

Critical Reminders

Night 4 Gate:Never face the Intruder alone. Ensure at least one confirmed ally—or even a harmless Visitor—is indoors before answering.
Self-Check Daily:Inspect yourself in the bathroom mirror before Vigilante visits. Remove fungal growths or perfect teeth to avoid instant execution.
Context is Evidence:Many humans display false symptoms—burns, tears, exhaustion. Cross-check alibis, schedules, and TV intel before pulling the trigger.
